Enerpoint Photovoltaic Park
Enerpoint Photovoltaic Park: a perfect symbiosis of earth and sun!
When nature and technology meet and coexist harmoniously, then positive synergies are developed which support local businesses. Integrating photovoltaics and agriculture enriches regions and creates new job opportunities.
Photovoltaics may be a reason to revalue the region if suitably integrated with traditional businesses such as agriculture and stock rearing. The main features of solar energy, which are that it is clean and silent, mean that it is highly compatible with different businesses, favouring a form of interaction between man and environment founded on utmost respect.
Starting from this concept Enerpoint is developing the Photovoltaic Park in Grottaglie in the province of Taranto. A vast area of untilled land has been salvaged thanks to the reinstatement of olive groves and crops which provide a frame for a series of photovoltaic plants that are perfectly integrated with the territory. It is the concrete proof that photovoltaic panels can espouse the demands of farmers and the conservation of the natural environment.
The project, which began in 2007 with the completion of the first MWp, will continue to develop over the next few months with the production of more plants.
First MWp completed!
Made up of seventeen 50 kWp subsystems and ten 20kWp subsystems, totalling 991.6 kWp, the plant uses photovoltaic modules belonging to various technologies: monocrystalline and polycrystalline, amorphous silicon and tandem cells. These systems, placed in the same conditions of radiation, inclination and direction, will, when the plant is up to speed, enable a series of comparative studies to be carried out on the efficiency of the various technologies used.
The electrical energy generated by the Photovoltaic Park will be introduced into the Italian electrical market as clean energy and will prevent approximately 800 tonnes of CO2 from being released into the atmosphere annually.
The Enerpoint Photovoltaic Park, in its current form, is a unique initiative in Italy which, once the project is complete, will be accessible to the public by means of a series of marked itineraries intended to show the feasibility of integration between the two worlds of photovoltaics and agriculture.
